Group 5 — Synthesizers
Your Research Question
How do you turn four groups' research tables into a single, consistent, documented dataset that the Unmetered Map at energy.cliff.phd can load?
You are the quality gate.
Every other group produces raw research — MET values, population estimates, mortality rates. Your job is to receive that research, apply the formulas, catch inconsistencies, write methodology notes that are honest about uncertainty, and produce JSON records that can update the live map. If a number doesn't make sense, it stops here.
Your synthesis pipeline
Collect CSV exports from Groups 1, 2, 3, and 4
Population table (G1) · Role energy table (G2) · Resistance + USCT table (G3) · Mortality table (G4)
Productive: population × weighted kWh/day × 365
For each state × 10-year period using Group 1 population and Group 2 kWh/day
Resistance: population × kWh/person/yr (from Group 3)
energy_kwh.resistance — per state-year; only after 1619
Conflict: USCT state totals from Group 3 (step function after 1862)
energy_kwh.conflict — zero before 1863; Group 3's USCT table gives totals by state
Foreclosed: population × mortality rate × years stolen × 365 × kWh/day
energy_kwh.foreclosed — Group 4's rates applied to Group 1's population
Methodology notes for every state-period
Must document: what was measured, what was estimated, what was missing
Run ratio checks: foreclosed ÷ productive = 0.15–0.45
Anything outside this range flags for review before shipment
Export JSON → load into energy.cliff.phd
The map rebuilds. The numbers are yours.
